Fancall deadlines in KST: a time zone guide for US and EU fans
Almost every fancall deadline is set in Korea Standard Time (KST). KST is UTC+9 all year. Korea does not change its clocks, but the US and Europe do, so the gap changes twice a year.
The most common mistake: a deadline of “October 8” in Korea ends while it is still the morning of October 8 in the US. If you wait until the evening, it is already closed.
Example: deadline Oct 8, 23:59 KST (summer time in US and EU)
| Where | Local time |
|---|---|
| New York (EDT) | Thu Oct 8, 10:59 AM |
| Chicago (CDT) | Thu Oct 8, 9:59 AM |
| Los Angeles (PDT) | Thu Oct 8, 7:59 AM |
| London (BST) | Thu Oct 8, 3:59 PM |
| Paris, Berlin (CEST) | Thu Oct 8, 4:59 PM |
Example: deadline Nov 12, 23:59 KST (winter time)
| Where | Local time |
|---|---|
| New York (EST) | Thu Nov 12, 9:59 AM |
| Chicago (CST) | Thu Nov 12, 8:59 AM |
| Los Angeles (PST) | Thu Nov 12, 6:59 AM |
| London (GMT) | Thu Nov 12, 2:59 PM |
| Paris, Berlin (CET) | Thu Nov 12, 3:59 PM |
How many hours ahead is Korea?
| Your time zone | Summer | Winter |
|---|---|---|
| US Eastern | 13 hours | 14 hours |
| US Central | 14 hours | 15 hours |
| US Pacific | 16 hours | 17 hours |
| UK | 8 hours | 9 hours |
| Central Europe | 7 hours | 8 hours |
Europe switches to winter time on the last Sunday of October (October 25 in 2026). The US switches on the first Sunday of November (November 1 in 2026). In the week between, the gap to the US and the gap to Europe change on different days, so double-check deadlines that fall in that week.
Deadlines without a time
Some notices give only a date. On our schedule, a date-only deadline is treated as the end of that day in the event’s time zone, and we show you that moment in your own time. When an event’s time zone is not stated, we use KST, the earliest closing time among the shops we follow, so you are never told you have more time than you do.
The easy way
Every event on the biaslog schedule shows the deadline as the event states it and in your local time, with a countdown. Your browser does the conversion, so it is right wherever you are.
